Huawei has announced the winning apps for its 2020 Huawei Developer Competition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a yearly contest that has been held from September to December 2020 across twelve countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Following Huawei’s vision on supporting developers through diverse initiatives, the Huawei Developer Competition has been created to incentivize existing or new developers in the region by providing awards for high-quality mobile applications built on the Huawei Mobile Services platform. It also puts developers at the heart of innovation, by enabling them to use Huawei Mobile Services' open capabilities to create new and unique experiences to benefit end-users.
With more than 4,900 registrations across all countries, the winners of the Huawei Developer competition for each country have been selected based on a comprehensive set of considerations. The main criteria of selection were based on the app's popularity within the market (number of downloads), the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Core integration of the app, and the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Special Kit integration. Winners have been selected within different categories (Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards) and rewards included different amounts of cash prizes and cloud vouchers.

In Saudi Arabia, sixteen winners have been selected across all categories. Rashaqa a leading health and fitness app in Saudi has received the Gold Award with a cash prize worth SAR 108,000.The silver Award has been given to Nana app, grocery shopping and delivery service and ToYou app, passenger transportation and courier services, which have both received a cash prize of SAR 50,000 each.
In the Bronze category, multiple apps from various industries have been awarded prizes of SAR 12,000 and finally, the Future Star Awards winners have received a cash prize of SAR 3,000 each.
Huawei Developer Competition has seen this year submissions from developers of a wide range of fields, and the success of the contest can inspire more partners to develop their apps.
