The Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development ADDED announced that it is working on a project which connects industrial facilities in Abu Dhabi to the operations room of Abu Dhabi General Directorate of Civil Defense and Injazat Data Systems via ‘Hassantuk’, a smart monitoring alert and control system.
The project is designed to enhance the efficiency of industrial facilities in ensuring fire safety and faster response time during emergencies, and thereby reduce property losses and loss of lives due to these types of incidents. It also works to engage insurance companies in Abu Dhabi to provide industrial facilities with competitive offers.
IDB has met with 62 local insurance companies and suggested them to offer attractive packages to industrial facilities that install Hassantuk Smart Monitoring System, which has led to more industrial facilities signing up to install the technology in their facilities and take advantage as well of the lower cost of insurance for industrial facilities.
Eng. Nabil Al Awlaqi, Director of IDB's Occupational Health and Safety Department said that implementing the project is part of ADDED’s continuing efforts to improve the facilities within the industrial sector and increase the response time to fires and emergencies within the sector through a comprehensive program. He added that IDB has conducted several workshops and surveys to 677 industrial facilities in the emirate, and 400 of them are now fully connected via the ‘Hassantuk Smart Monitoring System’, comprising 60 per cent of the total industrial facilities which are classified as high-risk facilities.
Al Awlaqi explained how the system works where it monitors the efficiency of internal alarm systems continuously and automatically reports any fire indicators at the onset of fire, prompting authorities to respond proactively and prevent any fire incident from happening or control the fire from spreading.
He noted that the system also measures and monitors the effectiveness of fire-fighting systems, which helps facilitate prompt inspection and implementation of periodic maintenance. Connecting to ‘Hassantuk Smart Monitoring System’ is one of ADDED’s leading initiatives aimed at helping achieve UAE Vision 2021, with the goal of becoming one of the safest countries in the world.
IDB together with Abu Dhabi General Directorate of Civil Defense and Injazat Data Systems organized several workshops with the participation of 91 representatives from the industrial sector which were trained on how to implement Hassantuk Smart Monitoring System. The participants were also briefed about the importance of the project and raise awareness to everyone working within their respective facilities regarding the benefits of installing and using the fire safety technology.
