King Salman relief center gives 50,000 meals to Yemenis

The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works has conducted a huge relief operation for refugees on the Yemeni side of Al-Wadeeah southern frontier town checkpoint in Najran region.

Rafat Al Sabbagh, spokesperson of the center, said that the aid included 50,000 meals, 400,000 loaves of bread, 100 bottles of water and other necessary items. “These items were distributed among families, elderly, women and children stranded on the Yemeni side of the checkpoint, to seek safe refuge from the military operation taking place in Yemen,” he said.

Al-Sabagh said that relief works for Yemeni refugees will contribute until the situation returns to normal.
The Al-Wadeeah checkpoint, was supported with 50 security forces according to the Director General of Passport Department, Major General Sulaiman Al-Yahiya.
“The support came in response to the order of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premiere and minister of interior,” he said.
“The forces, comprising of 50 soldiers in addition to their officers, will consolidate the already existing passport officers at the checkpoint and will enhance the smoothness of passengers traffic between the Saudi and Yemeni sids,” he added.

General Al Yahiya recently made an inspection tour to the check point to see firsthand the current situation and preparedness and to asset the needs for further support to deal effectively with the passenger flow at the point. It believed that the supply of the additional security forces was based upon his recommendations.
