King to patronize global meet on Prince Saud

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman will patronize an international conference on the late Prince Saud Al-Faisal next Sunday.
The April 24-26 event will be organized by the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) with the participation of a number of princes, ministers, politicians and intellectuals from inside and outside the Kingdom.
KFCRIS Chairman Prince Turki Al-Faisal expressed gratitude to King Salman for his patronage. This embodies the appreciation of King Salman for the efforts exerted by Prince Saud Al-Faisal for over 40 years of shuttling between world capitals, explaining his country’s policies and defending the principles and interests of his country and the Arab and Islamic worlds, he said.

He said the conference is part of KFCRIS’ efforts to recall the achievements of the Kingdom’s sons in general and to shed light on the life of Prince Saud Al-Faisal and his enormous efforts in Saudi diplomacy and achievements for the best interest of his country.
He said Prince Saud Al-Faisal represents an important era in the history of Saudi diplomacy, in particular, and Arab and Islamic diplomacy, in general, where he was the longest serving foreign minister in the world (Oct. 13,1975 to April 29, 2015).
He served as foreign minister in the era of four kings — King Khaled, King Fahd, King Abdullah and King Salman — and witnessed key events experienced by the Middle East and the world at large, he said.
The agenda of the three-day conference includes a series of sessions and lectures which will primarily deal with aspects of Prince Saud’s scientific and professional careers, his diplomatic efforts in the establishment of the GCC countries, activation of the Arab League, protection of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and the fight against terrorism, he said.
The event will also explore Prince Saud’s role in bringing peace to Lebanon after its civil war, features of the Kingdom’s foreign policy and efforts in enhancing regional security and global peace.
He said more than 2,000 figures, including princes, ministers, academicians, diplomats and researchers, will attend the conference.
