As interest in social media platforms continue to rise among the Saudi population, smartphone manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to enhance the online social experience, says axiom. Leading the market is Apple’s newly launched iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, which are set to launch across select axiom stores, listed below, at midnight (Friday evening/Saturday morning, 10 October).
“KSA social media users are increasing accessing and uploading content onto various social media platforms using smartphone devices due to easy accessibility and convenience. As a result, smartphone manufacturers are striving to enhance the process with improved camera specifications, simplified uploading tools, and enhanced interface features,” said Faisal Al Bannai, CEO of axiom.
“Being a strong leader in the global smartphone market, Apple’s new iPhones, with improved camera specifications and the unique 3-D Touch feature, have again set new standards in the industry, and are set to become one of our top-selling devices in KSA this year,” he added.
According to the sixth edition of the Arab Social Media Report, Saudi Arabia is home to the highest number of active Twitter users in the region, accounting for 40 percent from the Arab world in 2014, and increasing by more than 500,000 from the previous year. The report further indicates that other social media platforms are continuing to rise in the region with growth rates of 49% on Facebook, 54% on Twitter, and 79% on LinkedIn since May 2013.
One of the most commonly used features on smartphones in the KSA is the camera to share special moments and interesting scenes with social media contacts, say industry experts at axiom. The cutting-edge cameras on the newly launched iPhones feature the first significant upgrade in years with a 12MP camera and 4K video recording. The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are also introducing the new Live Photos feature that captures the moments just before and after a photo is taken to enhance the memory.
The innovative 3D Touch technology on the new iPhones take Force Touch technology further with the ability to detect a wider range of pressure applied to the screens, and responding accordingly. With the new 3D Touch technology, iPhone users can peek through content without opening apps by lightly pressing on icons, open apps with a regular tap, or invoke additional options by pressing harder. The new technology also allows iPhone users to access frequently used apps faster, view previous images while taking new photos, take a peek at a location before enabling directions on online maps.
While the dimensions of the new iPhones are similar to the predecessors, they will be crafted using 7000 Series aluminum, the strongest alloy ever used in an iPhone, the toughest display glass ever used on a smartphone, and will introduce a stunning rose gold version. The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will also surpass the previous iPhones in terms of performance with faster CPU and GPU rates, and improved battery functionality.
