Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah intensifies Coronavirus awareness for workers

The Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah has intensified awareness campaigns for workers in the Emirate of Sharjah against coronavirus, Covid- 19, for their protection, health and safety, and to minimize the risk among them. The LSDA campaigns were initiated at the directives of the wise leadership and as part of the keen interest of the Government Sharjah, represented by the Executive Council, in maintaining public health and safety, under the current health circumstances, which requires cooperation of all to support the precautionary measures taken by the country and the recommendations of the World Health Organization to prevent the virus.

 

His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah said, “At the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the instructions of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, the Labour Standards Development Authority started coordination with the authorities concerned once the pandemic spread. The LSDA started coordination with the Ministry of Health and prevention, Sharjah Safety and Prevention Authority, Sharjah Police, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization and other authorities concerned to confront the spread of the Coronavirus. LSDA has begun spreading health awareness among workers in Sharjah and delivering to them the latest developments and preventive instructions. For this purpose, the LSDA launched an SMS awareness campaign with awareness and prevention guidelines targeting the workers in their languages and to their locations.

 

His Excellency Salem Al Qaseer pointed out that the authority has also contacted all authorities concerned in the country and in the Emirate of Sharjah for preserving the work environment in Sharjah and the UAE in general. The LSDA began preparing electronic awareness brochures and videos in several languages, and distributing them to companies and establishments in the emirate, to circulate among their workers to take the precautionary measures against the spread of this pandemic. The LSDA has also prepared a questionnaire for companies on the awareness measures against coronavirus.

 

The Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority stressed the importance of abiding by the prevention instructions. He said, "I urge owners and officials of companies in Sharjah, especially those employing workers, to adhere to the health requirements and instructions issued by the UAE official authorities and to stay in constant touch with the websites of the Crisis and Emergency Authority and the Ministry of Health and Prevention."

 

His Excellency Salem Al Qaseer expressed his thanks and appreciation to all the departments, companies and establishments that cooperated with the authority to provide and facilitate these services. He said, "I especially thank the Sharjah City Municipality Department for its efforts on this regards, and thanks to Bee'ah, for expressing readiness to provide sterilization services to companies." He added, "The business sector in the emirate has witnessed a remarkable awareness and commitment to the precautionary procedures. The employers and workers have shown commitment to safety measures and support for the country’s efforts in these exceptional circumstances and their solidarity to combat this pandemic, which makes us feel proud of the extent of their keen interest in preserving the UAE community."

 

His Excellency Salem Al Qaseer expressed confidence in our ability to face this current challenge through commitment to safety, sterilization and prevention measures, and through the national preventive measures taken by the government to protect the society.
