MA’AN COLLABORATES WITH RED CRESCENT

MA’AN COLLABORATES WITH RED CRESCENT TO PROVIDE 70,000 MEALS FOR ISOLATED ABU DHABI RESIDENTS IN THE NEXT 14 DAYS

  • Through a special arrangement with Etihad Airport Services Catering, 70,000 meals are being delivered to quarantined people, with the Red Crescent organizing the logistic support to deliver three meals per day to 1,600 people across the emirate.

The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an’s ‘Together We Are Good’ programme – is collaborating with Etihad Airways’ Corporate Social Responsibility team and the Red Crescent to ensure that more than 70,000 meals are delivered to citizens and residents in need of assistance. This special collaboration will be paid for by the contributions made to the ‘Together We Are Good’ programme.

Etihad Airways’ world-class catering facility is producing meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner to ensure that 1,600 people undergoing isolation will receive nutritional support, with the Red Crescent providing logistical assistance to deliver the meals where they are needed most, thanks to its tireless staff and volunteers.

The two-week programme – funded entirely by Ma’an – started at Etihad Airport Services Catering’s facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport on Thursday 2 April and will continue until 16 April. Already, more than 14,000 meals have been delivered to the capital, a welcomed service for those who are unable to leave their homes.

The collaboration represents the latest example of social cohesion that has swept Abu Dhabi as companies and individuals pull together to support the ‘Together We Are Good’ programme which is aimed at bringing together the community’s efforts to address the current health and economic challenges.

Her Excellency Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an, added: “Once again, we are overwhelmed with the generosity of spirit and kindness from individuals and organisations across Abu Dhabi. Every day, we are receiving offers of assistance from all sectors – both public and private – and each contribution is highly valued and appreciated.

“For two major organisations to contribute their facilities and staff is yet another tribute to how the emirate’s community is pulling in the same direction to make a real difference. On behalf of the ‘Together We Are Good’ team at the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, I offer my sincere thanks to all our partners that continue to support this important programme.”

H.E Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy Secretary-General of the Local Affairs Division, Emirates Red Crescent, affirmed that the Authority gives great importance to community engagement programs, and aims to form constructive partnerships with individuals, organizations and other authorities to enhance social cohesion, and to create a unified public opinion towards urgent humanitarian issues.

HE praised the spirit of collaboration between the three partners, and their determination to implement the initiative. He explained that the association with Authority of Social Contribution Ma’an and Eithad Airways falls under the national efforts, to address the current health and economic challenges. HE also stated that Emirates Red Crescent volunteers will be part of this collaboration and serving its goals.

The ‘Together We Are Good’ programme is the first project of Ma’an’s Social Fund that allows community contributions to help tackle social challenges and will continue to support the health sector on an ongoing basis. The Social Fund is the official government channel to receive contributions from the community to tackle pressing social challenges.
