The “Marathon of Colors” was launched yesterday, with the event set to continue through the weekend, highlighting Taif’s status as the “Arab Summer Resort” destination.
The first day of the event was the “Family Marathon,” and featured a large turnout of family members of all ages, and people with disabilities. Participants raced over a 4-kilometer track, with a time limit of two hours. Amateur runners are competing today over an 8-kilometer track, with professionals competing on Sunday in the 21-kilometer category.
A number of recreational events were held on the sidelines of the track, adding to the enjoyment of both runners and spectators. The accompanying events run each day from 6pm to midnight, and include a Color Carnival, Art Zone, Happiness Theater, and fireworks, as well as a dining area, and children’s play areas.
Winners and those placed from first to tenth receive financial prizes, with prizes given on the first day in the categories of families and people with disabilities. Prizes are also given for senior participants in the amateur and professional events, and everyone who completes the race receives a commemorative medal.
