The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) is hosting the fifth edition of the Annual Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) Science Workshop between 15th and 17th March across three cities in the UAE. Featuring talks, and engaging workshops by scientists and leading experts from the UAE and around the world, the event will focus on our current understanding of the Martian atmosphere and its evolution. The 5th Annual EMM Science Workshop serves as an ideal platform for knowledge transfer for scientists, researchers, professors, and university students in the fields of science and engineering.
Omran Sharaf, Project Director, Emirates Mars Mission (Hope Probe), said, “The UAE is rapidly building its position as a global contributor in space research and exploration. Under the guidance of the UAE’s wise leadership, we are constantly exploring new frontiers and strengthening our capabilities. The Emirates Mars Mission, the UAE’s first interplanetary mission, is a significant step for humankind’s pursuit of the red planet. The data and insights collected by the Hope Probe about the mysteries of the Martian atmosphere will enrich our understanding and help us prepare for future exploration missions. As we prepare to launch the Hope Probe in July 2020, the Annual EMM Science Workshop is the ideal platform to bring the EMM team together with scientists and students to discuss topics related to Mars and to prepare the community for the anticipated data from the Emirates Mars Mission – Hope Probe.”
Mariam AlShamsi, Director of the Space Science department at MBRSC, added "At MBRSC, we believe that knowledge is cumulative and we continuously engage with the global space and science community to share ideas and insights that benefit the global pursuit of space research. The EMM team, members from the local and international science community, and students from EMM science outreach programs will get together during the 5th Annual EMM Science Workshop to discuss a wide array of topics such as the Martian surface, climate, dust storms, thermosphere, and the loss of atmosphere on the red planet. The EMM Science Team will also discuss the latest developments in the Emirates Mars Mission – Hope Probe, which is scheduled for launch in July 2020.”
The Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) Science Workshop will be held at the Al Ain’s United Arab Emirates University on 15thMarch, from 11 AM to 1 PM, the New York University Abu Dhabi on 16th March, from 1 PM to 3:15 PM, and the Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences on 17th March, at from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
