Meet the future of connectivity: The Huawei Mate20X (5G), the king of 5G smartphones

A high-speed network connection has become one the most important demands in modern lifestyle. The need to be always connected plays a huge role and with the growth of modern technology, we have seen network connections grow stronger and faster over the years. Today, we are at the cusp of 5G connectivity and standing upfront is Huawei, a brand known for pushing innovations and a reputed name in the 5G sector, with the all-new HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G), the King of 5G smartphones.

Huawei and 5G

Huawei, a brand reputed for its customer-centric innovations, has been working on 5G as early as 2009, investing significant efforts into developing 5G devices, networks and chipsets. Huawei was also the first in the world to announce a multi-mode chipset, the Balong 5000, which is capable of supporting 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks without any hiccups [1]. Today, the company has established more than 10 5G R&D centers with over 2,000 expert engineers.

With a focus on R&D, Huawei was able to amass a large number of patents with its smartphones, rapidly ushering in an era of development in the 5G sector. Huawei also worked with major telecom service providers all around the world on testing and optimizing the HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G), ensuring that the device would be able to reach its full potential in delivering the best 5G experience to users.

HUAWEI Mate20 X 5G

Based off the popular HUAWEI Mate20, the HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) packs 5G connectivity and a few exciting features that optimizes connectivity and enhances entertainment. With a larger display and more powerful hardware under the hood, the HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) is a culmination of Huawei’s greatest technologies rolled into an already powerful device.

Today, the growth of the 5G industry has resulted in various countries and regions adopting two mainstream networking methods that are key to 5G connectivity, Non-standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA). The first wave of 5G networks, classed as Non-Standalone (NSA), will be the 5G networks that are supported by existing 4G infrastructure. However, moving forward there will be a switch to the 5G Standalone (SA) network which is the ultimate 5G solution. While the SA network has the advantages of simplification and improved efficiency, the eventual migration from 5G NSA to SA by operators should be invisible to the user. Users that purchase phones that only support NSA, will have their devices stop connecting to 5G networks once the migration to SA takes place. For example, if users with 5G smartphones that only support NSA networks travel to countries where there is a SA 5G network, their smartphones will not work.

The HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) is the world’s first 5G smartphone [2] that works on both SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non-Standalone) network architecture. This means that it can work in different countries and at the different stages of the 5G networks development. It is been able to meet the communication capabilities of users and operators at different stages of hardware development.

A truly powerful smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) is capable of providing users with smooth 5G connectivity thanks to its dual chipset setup. Comprised of the Balong 5000 and Kirin 980, the world’s[2] first 7nm 5G multi-mode chipset and the first commercial 7nm mobile AI SoC respectively, the HUAWEI Mate20 X 5G is capable of unprecedented connectivity and multiple network compatibility as well as fast and efficient processing.

In addition to this feature, the HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) is also the world’s first 5G smartphone to support Dual-SIM (5G SIM + 4G SIM)[2]. This unique design makes it easier for users to stay connected to 5G networks while traveling or accessing roaming services.

The phone is also great for gaming, thanks to the GPU Turbo 3.0 for enhanced graphics and the massive 7.2-inch Dewdrop display with minimal bezels for a premium viewing experience, which is also perfect for streaming. It also houses a powerful Matrix camera system comprised of three Leica cameras, a 40MP wide angle, 20MP Ultra-Wide angle and the 8MP telephoto camera, all of them which work together with the powerful on-board AI to deliver stunning photos.

Under the hood, the HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) packs a large 4200mAh high density battery for extended use, which is further supported by the 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge and certified by TÜV Rheinland ensuring its safety. The HUAWEI Mate20 X (5G) also features an AI-powered battery optimizer that intelligently manages and regulates power consumptions in the background. The phone is also kept cool during extended use or high performance, thanks to an innovative cooling solution that utilizes graphene film and a vapor chamber.
