The prestigious Michelin Guide has recognised Dubai as a world gastronomic destination of note. The emirate's enviable culinary reputation is sprinkled with innovative dining experiences, hidden neighbourhood gems, and creative menus that reflect Arabian traditions, world flavours and new-age fusion – all to delicious effect.
Now, for the first time, Dubai's exceptional restaurants will be awarded with Michelin Stars – the ultimate distinction in culinary excellence. The city is renowned for its playful contrast of old and new, which is also well represented in its dining scene where heritage-infused Emirati cuisine is celebrated alongside trendy international fare.
The stars are awarded only to eateries that are judged by Michelin Inspectors to be of particularly high standard, and it's unanimously respected by both chefs and gourmands around the world.
Dubai is the latest addition to the Michelin Guide, which currently covers 36 destinations across North America, South America, Asia Pacific and Europe. With a rich tradition that dates back over 120 years, the Michelin rating criteria for restaurants takes into account five key considerations: quality of ingredients, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef represented in the dining experience, harmony of flavours and consistency between inspectors’ visits.
The Michelin Guide's initial selection of award-winning Dubai restaurants will be unveiled later in 2022, so stay tuned. A full list will also be available online where users can filter by location, cuisine and notable services and facilities.
