Monika Staab appointed new Saudi women's national team head coach

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has appointed Monika Staab as the new head coach of the Saudi women’s national football team.

The Federation made the announcement on its Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

Staab, football trainer and “German Football Ambassador 2014” award winner, is ranked on the list of most popular Association Football Player. She is also ranked in the list of famous celebrity born in Germany.

She won the UEFA Women’s Cup in 2002, the German championship in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003 and the German Cup in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

She was the manager of the women’s Bundesliga side FFC Frankfurt from 1993 to 2004. She was also the chairman of the club.

The 62-year-old German has a great experience in Gulf football, where she previously led the Qatar women’s teams.

Staab was picked to shape the Gambian football structure and team in a special project and she ran coaching clinics, reviewed the coaching structure, and, made recommendations for a possible long-term support program.

Staab was selected for this project focusing on women’s football.

The German coach has more than 25 years of experience as a player and coach, in addition to her work as a lecturer for the International Football Association (FIFA), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the German Football Association. — SG
