Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal launched the new black and white police cars and uniforms in Jeddah recently.
The colors are part of plans to distinguish the police from other security agencies falling under the Interior Ministry.
Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz Alsolee, chief of the Makkah police, said the new identity and technology for the police, endorsed by a group of security experts, would increase efficiency. Alsolee said the new-look police force was first launched in Riyadh a month ago by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister. It would be launched next in the eastern region, and then the rest of the country.
Othman Al-Mahrij, the director of the Public Security department, said the new uniforms were chosen after thorough research. They match the patrol cars, he said.
