New school year to begin Sept. 18

Minister of Education Ahmad Al-Issa has announced the 2016-2017 academic year will begin on Sept. 18, a source in the ministry said.

He said Thursday, Sept. 22, will be a holiday for all educational institutions to celebrate the National Day, which falls on a Friday this year.

The mid-term holiday will start on Nov. 10 and schools will recommence after the holiday on Sunday, Nov. 20.

The end of semester holiday for nursery and primary school children will begin by the end of Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, said the source.
