NTP Signs an MOU with Saudi Grains Organization and Savola World Foundation to Minimize Food Waste

On Wednesday the 29th of June 2022, National Transformation Program (NTP) signed an MOU with Saudi Grains Organization and Savola World. The main goal of this MOU is to effectively minimize food waste in the Kingdom and enable the participation of the non-profit sector in achieving NTP’s objectives, which is one of Saudi Vision 2030 Programs.  

This MOU comes as a part of NTP’s effort in supporting the growth of the non-profit sector to achieve Vision 2030 goals, in addition to enabling that sector in being a developmental partner, a main contributor in economic and social infrastructure in the Kingdom, a valuable government supporter, and a source of employment.  

Additionally, the MOU included a specialized program to launch educational campaigns to reduce food waste in 2022, with the goal of raising awareness in targeted groups of society in this subject. One of Savola World programs, “Negaderha” Program, plans to release communication campaigns  that mainly target the household sector in the Kingdom during Eid Al Adha and Hajj season, and throughout the year

It is also worth mentioning that NTP aims to enable the non-profit sector through four strategic objectives, and they are: support growth of the non-profit sector, empower non-profit organizations to create a deeper impact, enhance businesses’ focus on their social responsibilities, and encourage volunteering. In addition, NTP has a goal to ensure sustainability of vital resources and achieve development and food security through a number of initiatives. One of these initiatives is to limit food waste in the Kingdom and the Saudi Grains Organization is leading the effort.

“Savola World Foundation" was established on October 28, 2019, by "Savola Group" pursuant to the license No. (1007) under the supervision of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development as a Non-profit Organization by virtue of the Associations and Non-profit Organizations Law issued by the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (61) dated 18/02/ 1437H and its executive by-laws issued by Ministerial Resolution No. (73739) dated 11/06/1437H. The Foundation works in the field of social development and adopts many social programs and initiatives. This includes “Negaderha” the food waste management program, that aims to minimize food wastage in the household & HORECA sector. Negaderha  aims to increase the scope of its targeted groups and enter into strategic partnerships with related entities in different sectors.
