Ooredoo Kuwait partners with Ericsson to deploy first LTE Advanced Small Cell Solution in Kuwait

Ooredoo Kuwait, a member of Ooredoo Group, announced its partnership with Ericsson to deploy the first LTE Advanced small cell solution. This milestone is the latest in a successful ten-year partnership between Ooredoo Kuwait and Ericsson. Signing this deal took place last week during the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The event, to which the biggest mobile service providers across the world flock annually, was attended by Ooredoo Kuwait General Manager and CEO Mohammad bin Abdulla Al Thani, Corporate Communications Director Mijbil Alayoub, Chief Sales Officer Tamer Shibil, and CEO Consultant Dr. Hamad Alnuaimi.
Commenting on this, Ooredoo Kuwait’s General Manager and CEO Mohammad bin Abdulla Al Thani said: “Kuwait has witnessed an exponential growth of data traffic in the LTE network. The overall data traffic since 2013 grew by 7 folds, or 600%. We are positive that this partnership with the reputable Ericsson will further boost our capacity and provide a differentiated user experience to our customers in Kuwait.”
Rafiah Ibrahim, President Ericsson Region Middle East and East Africa said: “Mobile broadband is now an integral part of our everyday lifestyle where constant connectivity is expected anytime, anywhere. By introducing our integrated LTE advanced small cells into the LTE network, we are able to provide Ooredoo in Kuwait with more reliable and higher capacity network that will continue to support their customers’ connected lifestyles.”
By integrating Small Cell solution as part of the macro mobile network, Ooredoo Kuwait can cost effectively provide increased network capacity and improved coverage. It also provides full-service transparency in the network, ensuring that, Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services over LTE, designed specifically to provide broadcast service over cellular network, and similar functionality work seamlessly in the network.
In the context of an advanced LTE market with heavy uptake of data services, Ooredoo Kuwait’s deployment of the LTE Advanced Small cell solution will help it to stay ahead of competition through advance and innovative solutions.
