Over 15,000 graduate from KAU in colorful convocation

The King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah on Wednesday hosted its 44th convocation to celebrate the success of its outgoing graduating batch.
Excitement and anticipation filled the air in the vast stadium hall in late evening as graduates, proud parents and University officials gathered in the stadium for the event and began chanting “Salman Sama’an Wata’an,” pledging their allegiance to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed attended the event as chief guest and presented the certificates to the students. A total of 15,382 students were were awarded degrees at the 44th convocation, which includes more than 14,404 graduates of various streams, 597 postgraduates, 978 research scholars of various disciplines and 19 Ph.D. students, according to Abdul Rahman Alyoubi, who chaired the event.
Welcoming the governor, he noted that the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah is not only a pioneer in the western region or in the Kingdom, but is developing a great reputation among academics across the world. “King Abdulaziz University has been striving to produce graduates who who can meet the requirements of the private sector in our city,” he said.
He also said that all courses are designed to suit youth in a way that enables them to contribute to the generation of more employment opportunities for young Saudis in the future.
Addressing Prince Mishaal, he said: "Your presence makes the whole ceremony significant in terms of the value of education and support given to students in their further learning.” The governor received a guard of honor from the graduating students in a colorful parade ceremony, with green as the color of King Abdulaziz University in abundance.


Alyoubi also used his speech to urge the students to serve the nation, their king and the religion to reflect the humanitarian values and standards of their university.
Delighted parents watched their children in admiration as they received certificates from the governor and other distinguished guests of the evening, while the Saudi youth beamed with happiness and a sense of achievement following the graduation ceremony.
