OXFORD BUSINESS GROUP TO LAUNCH GLOBAL PLATFORM

The global publishing, research and consultancy firm Oxford Business Group (OBG) today added digital video to its portfolio of research tools with the launch of a groundbreaking online broadcasting service.

With over two thirds of the world’s mobile data traffic expected to be video by 2017, Oxford Business Group’s latest business marks a timely, relevant expansion to its services.

A new entrant to the field of on-demand business television, Global Platform will provide an arena for world leaders, industry players and other high-profile personalities who are driving change across the international markets to relay their views and answer questions on headline issues.

Andrew Jeffreys, OBG’s CEO and Editor in Chief, said Global Platform marked an exciting new chapter for the Group, at a time when media companies were increasingly recognising the importance of online video broadcasting.

“We know that worldwide audiences across the demographics are shifting towards digital, on-demand viewing using smartphones and non-mobile devices, thanks to faster networks, larger screens and new flexible ways of working,” he said. “Research shows that the average amount of time people will spend consuming online video each day will increase by 23.3% in 2015 and a further 19.8% in 2016. Our online platform will capture this growing audience via a powerful, dynamic medium ideally suited to today’s fast-paced business environment, putting decision-makers in front of the camera and extending their reach even further.”

Oxford Business Group has appointed longstanding team member Neslihan Aydagul as Managing Director of its new service. A Turkish national, Aydagul has overseen significant expansion during her 11 years with the firm, managing projects across the Gulf in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, while also overseeing the launch of its operations in Asia.

Aydagul, who has led the development of Global Platform through to fruition, said she was thrilled to be overseeing OBG’s latest innovation, at a time when digital video was going from strength to strength.

“The launch of our digital platform comes as figures show that adults in 2015 are watching one hour and 16 minutes of digital video daily, up from 21 minutes in 2011,” she said. “As a new player in a dynamic environment, our global platform will spark important conversations on a wide variety of issues, ranging from international economic trends to sector-based developments at a national or regional level. I look forward to seeing the impact our cameras will make.’”

OBG’s Global Platform has been developed in the UAE. The online platform is the latest addition to OBG’s portfolio of research tools, which includes its country reports analysing the economies of over 30 emerging markets as well as sector-based economic updates.

OBG’s digital content will be available on Global Platform and also distributed to a worldwide audience via major business news outlets.
