Panasonic switches off for Earth Hour

Newly opened brand showroom in Deira, Fish roundabout to be lit up with Panasonic Solar Lanterns expressing its eco-commitment

Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa (PMMAF) has joined WWF’s Earth Hour, a worldwide lights-off event to raise awareness about climate change. Earth Hour is an annual event that started in 2007 and today, cities across the world participate in the event in a bid to save energy and celebrate their commitment to the planet.
In support of the global movement, Panasonic facilities across the UAE will switch off lights for one hour on Saturday, March 28, 2015 while continuing to pledge its support year on year.
Panasonic’s recently opened biggest brand showroom in Deira, Fish roundabout will also join towards supporting Earth Hour by switching off lights within the outlet for an hour from 8.30pm – 9.30pm. The showroom will be lit up with Panasonic Solar Lanterns. The new showroom is spread across 8,600sq.ft and serves as a one-stop destination for customers, housing the most expansive range of Panasonic products, all under one-roof.

The company is also encouraging its employees to switch off lights in their homes in support of Earth Hour and spread the word to get its dealers, customers and the community involved. Panasonic truly believes in the motto of spreading its message of creating “A Better Life, A Better World”.
To encourage and spread the message further, Panasonic is running a competition on its Facebook page and one eco conscious winner will receive a high-end model of Panasonic’s energy-saving Air Purifier – F-VXK70M.

According to Shinichi Wakita, Managing Director, PMMAF, “Switching off all the lights and electronic gadgets, even for an hour has a positive impact on our planet. It also makes us collectively aware of how our usage of energy has a negative impact on our environment and causes depletion of natural resources to the detriment of future generations. As an environmentally conscious company, every year we support EarthHour to motivate our employees and everyone associated with our business to work together to support this global movement towards a more sustainable and healthy use of energy sources.”

Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa (PMMAF) has been in the forefront of energy conservation in the region. The company recently introduced its energy efficient line-up of LED lighting in the region which consumes up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs. It is also the first company in the UAE electronics industry to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by Middle East Centre for Sustainable Development (MECSD). One of the highlights that earned Panasonic the certification includes a 77.0 % energy performance through intelligent design & energy consumption.

In fiscal 2014, the size of Panasonic’s contribution in reducing CO2 emissions through energy-saving products stood at 31.76 million tons. Panasonic aims to reduce CO2 emissions in society over the years.

Panasonic actively develops energy creation business to maximize the size of contribution in reducing CO2 emissions. One leading energy-saving technology employed in Panasonic products is ECONAVI. The function enables automatic energy conservation with sensor technology etc. to detect wasteful power consumption in appliances. In 2009, Panasonic launched home appliances with ECONAVI function, and now the company offers many products that embed this unique technology.

Panasonic’s products continue to embody the company’s basic philosophy of improving people's lifestyles, conserving energy and contributing to society's development.
