The total number of passengers at Saudi airports jumped 15% year-on-year (YoY) to over 128 million in 2024, Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), told SPA, citing preliminary figures.
This increase marks a 24% leap from the pre-COVID levels.
The number of flights also jumped 11% to more than 902,000 last year.
Al-Jasser’s statements were given during the 15th meeting of the Steering Committee to activate the National Aviation strategy. GACA’s milestones over the last four years were also discussed.
Moreover, Al-Jasser added that air connectivity saw an increase of 16%, as the Kingdom is now linked to 172 destinations worldwide. Air freight recorded exceptional growth of 34% YoY, surpassing one million tons for the first ever time in 2024.
