The art exhibition ‘Pearls of Abu Dhabi’ is until 11 April at Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi daily from 9am – 10pm.
Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, Swiss Art Gate UAE and under the patronage of the Embassy of Switzerland to the United Arab Emirates, presents “Pearls of Abu Dhabi” an ‘artist in residence’ program and exhibition by renowned Swiss illustrator and artist, Reynald Aubert.
Reynald Aubert has been in various locations in Abu Dhabi, sitting somewhere close to an iconic building and simply capturing the architecture with ink pen on an A-3 paper. Aubert has travelled the world and he is very enthusiastic about the Abu Dhabi project, where he spends three weeks with sketching iconic buildings.
The exhibition ‘Pearls of Abu Dhabi’ shows more than twenty eight drawings of the artworks influenced from the artist’s extensive journey experiences during his artist in residence program in Abu Dhabi. The result is a series of sketches representing most iconic architectural designs, including many that have been inspired by Abu Dhabi and its storied history.
“Art being one of the key passion points for Le Méridien hotels worldwide, we are excited to host Reynald Aubert during this exhibition that aligns with the cultural heritage of this great destination. We are sure that our guests as well as public will love Reynald’s creations as his sketches are unique in terms of his style and creative process” – Said Max Wiegerinck, General Manager at Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi.
Aubert not only captures the mixed architecture of old and new in his sketches, but he somehow captures the energy of the pedestrians as they quickly go about their daily routine. The viewer can feel the movement of his sketched lines and remember the day spent in the city via Reynaldʼs art impressions.
The exhibition “Pearls of Abu Dhabi” runs until 11 April 2016 and will be open to visitors and guests of the Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi daily from 9am to 10pm.
About Le Méridien Hotels
Le Méridien, the Paris-born hotel brand currently represented by nearly 100 properties in more than 40 countries, was acquired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) in November 2005. With more than 80 of its properties located in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, Le Méridien provided a strong international complement to Starwood’s then primarily North American holdings at the time of purchase. Since then, Le Méridien has gone through a brand re-launch, which included a large scale hotels product consolidation as well as redefining its brand strategy. Through creation of the LM100 artist community, Le Méridien has transformed numerous guest touch points, thus bringing unique, interactive and curated experiences to its guests.
