Peugeot Middle East has signed a deal with one of the UAE’s leading local car rental companies, Al Emad, to add 100 units of its sporty Peugeot 208 hatchback model to its fleet. The cars will be available for customers to hire from 1st August this year.
The Peugeot 208 boasts a sporty, streamlined look with an efficient 1.6L engine delivering 115 HP and a top speed of 210 km/h. The new model offers optimised interior space and boot capacity compared to the previous generations and is equipped with Peugeot’s cutting-edge i-Cockpit® technology.
Peace of mind is provided to customers by the 208’s impressive list of safety and driving aids, including: electronic brakeforce distribution, anti-lock braking system and electric speed control as standard alongside cruise control with speed limiter. These new 208 models will complement the 208 hatchbacks, 301 sedans, 3008 SUVs already on the Al Emad fleet, reinforcing the rental company’s confidence in the French brand.
This deal forms part of Peugeot’s regional expansion plans, which in turn complements Groupe PSA’s ‘Push to Pass’ strategy that aims to increase sales outside Europe by 50 percent.
Rakesh Nair, Managing Director of GCC at Groupe PSA, said: “Our fresh new Peugeot line-up offers the ultimate value for drivers and that’s why we are seeing an increased demand on both private and commercial levels in the region, and why we have doubled our market share since we announced the brand’s comeback in the GCC in 2017.”
Furqan Mohammed Iqbal, Al Emad Rent a Car, commented: “This addition will complement our existing offering of Peugeot cars in our fleet. At Al Emad Rent a Car our priority is to fulfil our customer’s rental requirements whether it is securing a car based on cost or one that delivers particular standards of safety and comfort, and the new Peugeot 208 is the perfect car to satisfy the demanding requirements of both our customers and the company.”
Al Emad Rent a Car has five branches in the UAE and over 3,500+ vehicles in its fleet, varying from economy cars to midsize cars and SUVs.
