Porsche Saudi Arabia, SAMACO Automotive, the exclusive importer of Porsche in the Kingdom has defied a challenging 2020, dominated by the global impact of COVID-19 and a rise in VAT. The organisation recorded a 29 per cent growth in new car deliveries, resulting in the highest retail figures for the importer in the past five years.
Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Porsche Saudi Arabia, says the positive annual performance is a result of several new initiatives and hard work to overcome the significant challenges of 2020: “We defied all odds by increasing our retail performance by almost 30 per cent and reporting our highest order intake in five years. To conclude a tough year on such a positive note is a reflection of the dedication from the entire team and shows the commitment and faith placed in us by our customers.
“Moving forward, 2021 has a lot more to offer not just with a strong selection of new models on the way, but also through an enhanced customer experience. The new Porsche Showroom in Riyadh which is almost completed is just the beginning of a comprehensive expansion plan. Several other projects with a strong focus on providing enhanced After Sales Services are well underway.”
The Porsche Cayenne accounted for almost 50 per cent of Saudi Arabia’s 953 new car deliveries totalling 470 units. The brand’s compact SUV, the Macan, continued its growth trajectory since its introduction recording a 50 per cent growth over 2019. Sales of the iconic 911 model rose 35 per cent compared to the previous year.
Dr Manfred Braeunl, CEO of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, says the excellent performance is based on a strong relationship with Samaco Automotive, the brand’s exclusive importer in Saudi Arabia: “Thanks to the outright commitment by our business partner, Samaco Automotive, last year proved to be incredibly successful for our brand in the Kingdom. Through new initiatives and a solid business model, the team managed to overcome several hurdles during a challenging time, making Saudi Arabia our top growth market in the Middle East. This is a great achievement by our longstanding and trusted business partner and I thank the team under the leadership of Mohammed Raffa, CEO of SAMACO Automotive, and Arno Husselmann for this outstanding result.
“We look forward to many more success stories in the years ahead, with 2021 promising to be an exciting chapter thanks to a busy diary filled with product launches and facility projects set to be revealed in one of our biggest market.”
New models on the way include the 911 Turbo Coupé and Cabriolet, the new Panamera sports saloon and an expanded 718 range with the availability of a PDK transmission for the flagship GTS, GT4 and Spyder models.
In keeping with its commitment to enhance customer services through modern facilities with maximum convenience, new service centres will open in Mecca and Medina. 2021 will also see the launch of several sales pop-ups in popular locations throughout the Kingdom.
As one of its main initiatives for customers’ peace of mind, Porsche Saudi Arabia introduced a Porsche Service Inclusive Package for a period of four years and/or 60,000 kilometres covering all routine service requirements, such as oil, filters, brake discs and pads. Further included is a four-year, unlimited mileage Porsche Warranty which covers wear and tear items as per the company’s terms and conditions.
Additionally, the local team is working closely with Porsche Financial Services to offer attractive finance packages for customers wanting to fulfil their dreams of owning a benchmark sports car. Arno Husselmann is looking at further measures that can benefit Porsche drivers in the Kingdom, “We are dedicated to delivering the best Porsche ownership experience through our planning, investment in products, people, training and facilities. We take satisfaction in leaving no stone unturned in ensuring customer delight and valuing them as the purpose of our business.”
