The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is planning to install pre-paid electricity meters for new subscribers, according to the company’s spokesman Abdullah Al-Rakaf.
He said pre-paid meters were installed in some companies as an experiment.
“This is within the company’s drive to rationalize electricity consumption,” he added.
The spokesman said the pre-paid meter will enable consumers to control electricity consumption by re-charging the meter according to monthly needs.
“We will soon issue a statement detailing the prices and the conditions for installing pre-paid meter,” he said.
