Princess Al-Anood Foundation distributes 20,000 food baskets

Riyadh-based Princess Al-Anood Philanthropic Foundation (PAPF) has launched its first Ramadan food basket caravan program, distributing the baskets to the needy and deserving families as part of the foundation’s Ramadan program.

The charity work has taken place every Ramadan for the past 15 years, with the cooperation of 100 charities in various regions of the Kingdom, said the foundation’s media department. The food basket includes basic items such as rice, sugar and assorted Ramadan products, which were packaged at specialized factories.
A PAPF spokesman said that the packages being channeled through associations across the country will be distributed to families and beneficiaries estimated at a total of 100,000 citizens, both males and females.

The organization also hosted Ramadan lectures at it headquarters in Riyadh in order to spread the message of tolerance. The event was attended by various diplomats and expatriates. The foundation has also built mosques and houses for poor Saudi families in remote areas. They sponsor orphanages and provide medical treatment for needy Saudi families. Future programs will provide for educational facilities and manpower training as part of their charitable work.

The PAPF belongs to the wife of the late King Fahd, which is investing SR1,400 million in real estate to sustain its philanthropic services, including the twin towers hotel on King Fahd Road in Riyadh.

The foundation’s Secretary-General Al-Huzaim has disclosed in a previous statement that the charity spent SR58 million on all types of charitable projects in 2010. According to the their official financial report, the foundation has generated SR323 million in revenue since its inception, of which SR51 million has been spent on executing the will of Princess Al Anood.
