The Coast Guard in the Eastern Province has intensified patrolling on the beaches during the ongoing Eid holidays to deal quickly with any drowning cases that result from ignoring marine safety rules.
Commander of the Coast Guard in the Eastern Province, Major General Abdullah bin Mubarak Jawah, called on visitors to the beaches to follow safety instructions and urged parents to watch out for their children and encourage them to wear safety vests while swimming. “Action will be taken against those found violating instructions or found swimming in prohibited areas.”
He said that the guards have devised a comprehensive plan to follow up on their work, while offering the best services for holiday makers and helping them to stay away from any problems or accidents.
The officer said that the guards put a complete plan in place before the start of any holiday season to deal with the large number of people. Their work demands their presence around the clock alongside the coast to educate tourists and guide them toward safe places that for swimming.
He said that the search and rescue centers have been supplied with trained cadres and life guards, in addition to increasing modern mechanisms and rescue teams, he said.
