Renault is keeping up with its offensive in the SUV segment, and is extending its model range by launching New Koleos, in an event held in Downtown Dubai on the 19th of October 2016. This brand-new addition to the product line-up will provide Middle-East customers with a wider and complete choice to fulfill even more their local expectations. New Koleos introduction in the Middle East is happening within the first Renault countries to launch this new model, before European markets. In order to be even more in tune with the region requirements, a local product range has been specifically designed.
Speaking at the event, Marwan Haidamous declared: “New Renault Koleos is the perfect flagship of our new brand identity. Built from the ground-up, it features a new design, a new platform, new dimensions, new positioning in the range and new technologies.” He concluded: “The car combines the refinement of a large saloon car with the robust styling of an SUV.”
New KOLEOS was unveiled at the last Beijing Motor Show and embodies Renault’s high-end vision for the markets where SUV sales are booming. New KOLEOS delivers all that is expected of a D-segment SUV: powerful, muscular exterior lines, four-wheel drive technology, all-terrain ability thanks to a ground clearance of 210mm, 15cm longer than the previous model, and 550 dm3 VDA boot (equivalent to 600 litres). Besides, this new add-on to the catalog highlights Renault’s know-how: a refined, comfortable interior with seats including technology and design amongst the very best in its category, class-leading cabin space, including 289mm of rear knee room, 8.7” touchscreen tablet with R-LINK 2 multimedia & navigation system. New KOLEOS delivers a blend of robust SUV codes as well as the refinement and features associated with large sedan cars.
With its global appeal, New KOLEOS will play a huge part in the Renault’s brand’s international growth by expanding its product range and extending its foothold across the world. For Renault, New KOLEOS comes at a time when SUVs are enjoying strong growth in many markets, and for many consumers, this will be their first opportunity to experience the Renault brand.
With a very attractive opening price and equipment grades, New Koleos is now on sales in the Middle-East. For more information on prices for each country, the nearest Renault branch can be contacted.
New KOLEOS is an SUV that packs all the styling characteristics and capabilities associated with the segment. This new model displays robust, statutory, and powerful design with features such as: door protective moldings, large-diameter two-tone alloy wheels, alloy roof rails, shark antenna, fender chrome lines, and silver front skid.
Meanwhile, the combination of high ground clearance (210mm) and approach / departure angles of respectively 19 / 26 degrees ensures the go-anywhere ability. The stylish body colours and wheel designs selected for New KOLEOS assert a particular elegance:
At the rear, Renault’s trademark style is again prominently on display. The wide, horizontal tail lights amplify the impression of width (1,843mm) and draw the eye to the Renault logo on the tailgate. Chrome inserts set into the lower part of the rear bumper take the shape of twin exhaust tail pipes. A full LED lighting signature is recalling Renault’s latest models while the cohesion of the model’s overall design extends to the front and rear sides:
The styling similarities with Talisman – Renault’s new large family sedan – are immediately apparent, and with good reason. The exteriors of these two vehicles were designed in parallel.
As a result, New KOLEOS is instantly recognisable as a top-of-the-range Renault, thanks notably to its front-end design that incorporates a prominent Renault logo set at the centre of a broad chrome grille. The taut bonnet lines contribute to both cars powerful design, an impression that is heightened by the presence of several chrome embellishments, including strips that run from the head lights along the full length of the wings to visually lengthen the front end and exude an impression of dynamism and elegance.
New KOLEOS’ SUV genes are similarly prominent inside the cabin. Redolent of comfort, quality and strength, its elegant, protective interior is in perfect harmony with the model’s exterior lines.
An elevated driving position offers excellent visibility. Compared to a traditional sedan, the New KOLEOS’ driving position is 150mm higher, a reassuring feature that is highly prized by SUV buyers. The tall, wide dashboard is intended to give driver and passenger a sense of safety and protection. Hand grips either side of the centre console echo the world of off-road motoring while imbuing the interior with a sporty feel.
The 2,705mm wheelbase – for a total vehicle length of 4,673mm – counts amongst the longest in the class and allows New KOLEOS to boast record-breaking interior space to position itself as a D-segment SUV. With knee room of 289mm, and rear wide door opening of 77°, New KOLEOS not only outclasses its rivals but also provides rear passengers with generous head room, shoulder room and elbow room.
The front seats of New KOLEOS draw their inspiration from those of the new Renault Talisman, Renault’s large family sedan: a welcoming and enveloping design, dimensions that figure among the very best in class, variable density foam for added comfort.
New KOLEOS’ front seats benefit from six-way power adjustment, power lumbar adjustment, and front seats ventilation with a choice of two settings to stay cool in hot weather. A choice of upholsteries: light grey fabric, platinium grey leather, with possibility to change for dark or brown.
Prior to its release, New KOLEOS underwent 1,100,000 km of intensive testing to assert its durability and confirm its adaptability to all drivers’ expectations, for every types of roads and weather conditions. New Koleos introduction in the Middle East is happening within the first Renault countries to launch this new model, before European markets. In order to be even more in tune with the region requirements, a local product range has been specifically designed.

Unmatched user-friendly 4x4 technology
ALL MODE 4x4-i transmission
The ALL MODE 4x4-i transmission available on New KOLEOS features technology that has been proved on millions of Alliance vehicles worldwide. This all-wheel drive system permanently monitors grip levels to guarantee optimal traction in any condition.
Very easy to use, a control switch situated to the left of the steering wheel enables the driver to select one of the three modes: 2WD, 4WD AUTO or 4WD LOCK.
In addition to reinforcing the new KOLEOS’ off-road ability, the ALL MODE 4x4-i system delivers even more dynamic performance, plus greater stability and enhanced safety. The sensors permanently monitor both longitudinal and lateral acceleration, as well as yaw rates and steering angles, to optimise front/rear torque split and thereby ensure the most efficient grip possible, while also reducing understeer or oversteer.
To meet the needs of all Middle-East market, New Koleos will be proposed in both 4x4 and 4x2.
New KOLEOS’ engine and transmission line-up has been tailored to meet the needs and expectations of the markets where the model will be sold. The 2.5-litre petrol engine is also an atmospheric, four-cylinder, 16-valve powerplant with double overhead camshafts. Power is 170hp (126kW) at 6,000rpm, with peak torque of 233Nm at 4,000rpm. Particular care was taken to minimise friction for enhanced performance and excellent fuel consumption, from 6.7L / 100km (extra-urban cycle). With 200Nm torque available from as low as 1,800rpm, it is extremely responsive at low and mid-range engine speeds and is particularly suited to towing (up to 1,650 Kg). It can be specified with either two- or four-wheel drive and is exclusively coupled to the X-Tronic transmission.
The X-Tronic transmission was designed to enhance driving enjoyment and reduce fuel consumption compared with conventional automatic transmissions. New KOLEOS’ X-Tronic transmission performs like a multi-ratio automatic whenever the driver needs to accelerate briskly. It ensures seamless gear shifts under acceleration by proposing an infinite number of gears. It ensures that engine revs and load are constantly optimised to deliver enhanced fuel consumption, ride comfort and low noise levels when travelling at constant speeds. The driver has the option to select a seven-speed sequential mode to benefit from engine braking. X-Tronic transmission provides all the benefits of conventional automatic transmissions without the downsides.
New KOLEOS is built on the Alliance CMF-C/D architecture that is shared by several vehicles, including the Renault Espace, Talisman and Kadjar, and Nissan’s X-Trail/Rogue and Qashqai. The common architecture attests to the Alliance’s experience in sedan cars, crossovers and SUVs. Vehicle parts and components that are not visible to the customer are common, while the design and identity of each brand remain distinct. The resulting savings were reinvested in New KOLEOS to offer enhanced customer features.
New KOLEOS is assembled in Busan, Korea for all markets in the world except China. The plant boasts industrial tooling that is both effective and very flexible. It also meets Renault’s stringent manufacturing quality standards and currently produces vehicles built on the CMF-C/D architecture for brands belonging to Groupe Renault and its partner, Nissan.
Renault Koleos will be sold at a recommended starting price around USD $20,000 in the GCC (prices may vary by market).
New Renault Koleos comes with a 3 years / 100,000 Km standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Specific offers shall be advised to customers by professional sales teams at each of Renault’s showrooms in the Region.
Along the exclusive launch of the Renault Talisman, the Renault Virtual Showroom has been introduced in the Middle-East.
Visitors can come in and book a slot to discover the New Renault Koleos with a live sales demonstration and objection handling portal. At the designated slot, trained sales consultants will deliver a presentation and take the visitors through the car via the live demo online.
Then, questions can also be answered. It takes consumer selling to a whole new level. This level of innovation is not present even in other high involvement product categories.
For the first time in Middle-East, customers will be able to pre-book their car through a new e-commerce feature that has been added the Renault Virtual Showroom.
Live sessions are planned on October 23rd, 25th, 27th.
