SASO plans to increase car technical inspection centers by 242%

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) announced plan to increase the ratio of car periodic technical inspection by 242% after licensing more private companies in this field.

SASO’s vehicle safety center plan eyes 113 specialized centers across the Kingdom, compared to the current 33, the state-owned SPA reported, citing a SASO statement.

The regulations related to the entities applying for practicing periodic technical inspection were adopted and the application process was opened on June 25, 2022.

SASO added that nine among 34 applicants fulfilled the basic requirements, while one application withdrew its application.

SASCO is working with other government and private entities on a comprehensive development plan of the vehicle periodic inspection system in the Kingdom.
