Saudi Arabia takes part in UNESCO executive council’s meeting

The Kingdom of Saudi Araba is set to take part in the meeting of the executive council of Paris-based UNESCO scheduled to be held via video conference today. The meeting, which was postponed from March 2020 due to the spread of coronavirus world-wide, will last for eleven days.
Saudi Arabia will make its debut as member of UNESCO executive council in tomorrow’s meeting following its election last November to the membership of UNESCO executive council, the organization’s second highest after the general conference.
In a statement, Prince Badr bin Abdulllah bin Farhan, minister of culture and chairman of the national committee of UNESCO, said that the election of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UNESCO executive council confirms its international status and role in peace building as well as effectively contributing to consolidating the principles of culture, science and education.
