Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) announced carrying out three strategic projects to enhance the linkage and reliability of the 774.5-kilometer-long power grid, the state-owned SPA reported.
The three projects, overseen by the Ministry of Energy, are implemented across Rafha, Al-Wajh and Najran at a total value of more than SAR 1.4 billion.
The first project links Rafha to the public electricity network in the eastern sector via a 380-kilovolt overhead line which is 328 kilometer-long. Connecting Al-Qasima to Rafha, the project has a capacity of 1,650 kilovolt amperes.
The second one will connect Al-Wajh governorate to the Green Duba power plant through an overhead line spanning 210 kilometers.
The third line will connect Najran region with Al Fara’a station in Aseer with an overhead line reaching 236.5 kilometers. It will also provide additional energy as the electrical networks in Aseer and Najran regions will become more reliable.
The second and third projects also operate with a capacity of 1,650 kilovolt amperes.
The Saudi utility owns a network of high and ultrahigh voltage power transmission lines, whose total length reaches nearly 93,000 circular kilometers.
