Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al-Saud, honorary president of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Saudi Arabia, has been elected president of the organization’s regional alliance for Arab Countries (ICOM Arab).
The election took place at a board meeting on the sidelines of the 25th International Council of Museums general conference in Kyoto, Japan.
Prince Badr, who is also the Saudi cultural minister, agreed in July to become honorary president of ICOM Saudi Arabia, which was founded in 2015 under the umbrella of the Saudi Heritage Preservation Society.
ICOM meets every three years to discuss issues related to museum development around the world, in addition to nominating and electing the president and leaders of regional committees.
