The Ministry of Social Affairs and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) has signed an agreement to boost the handicraft sector.
The National Handicraft Program, known as Bari, is also involved in the initiative to raise the quality of products for sale on international markets.

Majed Al-Qassabi, social affairs minister, and Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the SCTA, signed the agreement at the SCTA headquarters, sources said on Thursday.
Commenting on the agreement, Prince Sultan said the handicrafts sector was important for the growth of the country. The partnership over the next three years would ensure that local products are available globally, he said.

The agreement will enable Bari to use the ministry’s branches to set up handicraft creativity centers, and train beneficiaries of the ministry’s services. The two parties will form a joint team of specialists to oversee projects including licensing and training of women.
