On Wednesday, 29 November, the staff at the Sharjah Department of eGovernment (DeG) got together at their headquarters in Sharjah to mark the 46th year of the UAE’s Union. Grand celebrations featuring cultural and recreational activities provided DeG’s employees with a golden opportunity to express their love, appreciation and patriotic spirit for their beloved nation.
Present during the celebration were Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of DeG, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Office of H.H. the Sharjah Ruler, Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Noor Ali Al Noman, Director of DeG.
Member of DeG took part in various festive activities, expressed their joy of celebrating one of the most significant days in the nation’s history. They wished the UAE and its people continued peace, progress and prosperity under the solidarity and wise leadership of the seven emirates.
Congratulating His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council Ruler of Sharjah, and the rest of the UAE’s leadership at the event’s opening of ceremony, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad Al Qasimi said: “The National Day is a celebration of the UAE’s formidable spirit and is a day of great significance for its leadership and citizenry alike. On this day, we renew our pledge of loyalty and unfailing service to our great nation, and remember the selfless sacrifices and endless generosity of our founding fathers, which are seen strongly founded in the UAE’s Union, that is a shining example of inclusion, collaboration and fraternity.”
“In the past 46 years, the UAE has been able advance at a rate that is not very common around the world. This would not have been possible without the wise vision of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, who put human capital, and their education, development happiness and wellbeing at the centre of all nation-building efforts. The development in all fields and the happiness in all aspects of life are the tangible results of the wise vision of His Highness,” he added.
The Director General of DeG underscored: “2ndDecember is an annual event to assess the progress the nation and its people have made, and reset our national counter for the next year’s achievements. At DeG, we are committed to doing the very best we can to influence the continued progress of our country by ensuring digital innovations in all aspects of public and private life in Sharjah. Through our work, we are determined to elevate the UAE’s stature as one of the most developed nations in the world with the happiness and wellbeing of its people as its top priorities.”
Each year, the UAE National Day commemorates the anniversary of the founding of the UAE’s Union on December 2, 1971.
