Shelf Drilling and Borr Drilling announced receiving notices to suspend operations on their offshore drilling rigs in Saudi Arabia.
Shelf Drilling said in a press statement that it received a notice to suspend operations on the High Island 2 rig from its Middle Eastern client Saudi Aramco.
The suspension will begin in the coming weeks, the company said, noting that it has the right to market the rig to other clients during the suspension period and terminate the contract.
In a separate statement, Borr Drilling said it received a notice of temporary suspension for the Arabia 2 rig, which operates in Saudi Arabia.
The company noted that the suspension period could last up to 12 months and the client will confirm the start date of suspension.
According to data available with Argaam, Arabian Drilling Co. announced in June that it suspended contracts for two offshore drilling rigs for up to 12 months.
ADES Holdings announced in April that it had temporarily suspended operations of five jack-up rigs operating in the Kingdom for up to 12 months.
