Siemens honored by His Excellency, Khalid Al-Falih at Saudi Electricity Forum

Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, Khalid Al-Falih, honored Siemens at the inauguration of the Saudi Electricity Forum 2017 in Riyadh as the Main Sponsor and an active contributor to localization of key technologies in the Kingdom.

 

Siemens displays its latest technology in the areas of Power Generation, Power Generation Services and Energy Management solutions such as 3D printed parts for turbines. However, the most exciting innovation being introduced in Saudi Arabia through this forum is the new Siemens HL Class gas turbine. This large turbine has excellent energy efficiency ratings of close to 63%. HL Class turbines are 4 stage turbines with 12 stage compressors and includes hot and cold start capabilities making them among the largest and yet most efficient gas turbine in the world.

 

Earlier in the day, Prof. Dr. Rainer Speh, CTO of Siemens Saudi Arabia, presented Renewable Energy and Achieving Saudi Vision Aspirations. during a workshop session as part of Saudi Electricity Forum 2017. He shed light upon potential impact and contributions of renewable energy to Visions 2030 and shared best practices from various countries. Dr. Speh also touched upon various renewable integration models, such as cellular concept, utilizing both utility scale and rooftop solutions. 

 

Siemens, remains a strong supporter and contributor towards the objective of localization under Vision 2030. Siemens produced Kingdom’s first, Made in Saudi Arabia turbine and spends more than 50% of its spend values by sourcing from local SMEs. Siemens is working with partners such as National Power Academy, Technical & Vocational Training Corporation and various universities to help prepare Saudi youth for managing the technologies of the future.
