The Sports Boulevard Foundation (SBF) announces a partnership with the organisers of Saudi Arabia’s biggest running event – the 2023 Riyadh Marathon, taking place in the Kingdom’s capital city on 10th-11th February.
The marathon, hosted by the Saudi Sports for All Federation with support from the Ministry of Sport, Quality of Life Program, and the Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation, will see participants from around the world taking part in a weekend of races. Multiple events offering opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and genders will include the headline 42.2km full marathon, a half marathon 21.1km for avid runners, a 10km race for those aged 17 and above, and a 4km race for kids and beginners.
The Sports Boulevard, which will provide a huge new range of sports destinations in central Riyadh focussing on running, cycling and equestrian for people of all abilities, will be the Official Sports Destination Partner for this year’s marathon. Sports Boulevard is supporting the event organisers’ ambition to encourage all members of society to practice sports and physical activity.
Competitors and spectators at this year’s Riyadh Marathon will be welcomed to the designated Sports Boulevard zone in the Marathon Village from 10th – 11th February. They will be able to take part in a variety of fun activities for all the family, meet members of the project team to find out more about the Sports Boulevard’s aim to inspire a new generation of athletes and sports enthusiasts, as well as learn more about the vast array of other opportunities it will create for Riyadh.
Jayne McGivern, CEO of the Sports Boulevard Foundation, said: “Creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get more active and involved with sports is the central pillar of Sports Boulevard. This opportunity to partner with such an important event in Riyadh is an ideal way for us to engage with the communities who will benefit most from our project. When Sports Boulevard opens, we would love to see the Riyadh Marathon taking place across the extensive new running and walking paths we are creating.”
Shaima Saleh Alhusseini, Managing Director of Saudi Sports for All Federation: “We are proud that this year’s marathon will have the Sports Boulevard as Official Sports Destination Partner. The Sports Boulevard is a project which will provide extensive facilities for people of all ages and abilities, from across Riyadh, to contribute to raising the percentage of physical activity.”
