The cornerstone of the fourth and fifth stages of Jeddah Corniche’s northern beachfront project was laid on Tuesday. The cost of the project is SR800 million.

The length of the project is 4.5 km starting from the Al-Nawras Roundabout in south Jeddah up to the Corniche crossroads linking Jibreen bin Al-Harith Street to the north. It includes the establishment of a number of areas giving impressive views of the Red Sea in addition to flat grassy lawns and sitting areas.
There will be sculptures and flower gardens in addition to bridges which will facilitate movement from place to place.

The new beachfront will have water fountains, waterfalls and lakes, all made in different designs. There will be special designated areas for families and sitting areas with umbrellas as well as seating and benches made from colorful granite not to mention pole lighting as well as floodlights and surveillance cameras.

The Jeddah Governorate plans to open the northern beachfront next month in an estimated area of approximately 500 million square meters. The first stage of the development of the Corniche started with its southern part and it was 3 km-long stretching alongside the sea and included the same facilities found on the northern beachfront.
It has public amenities and so-called self-operational smart toilets.
