Supreme Court approves Haram crane appeal rulings

The Supreme Court permanently closed the file of “Haram Crane” case, and approved the rulings of Makkah’s Court of Appeal, Okaz newspaper reported, citing sources.

The rulings included the conviction of Binladin Group for construction sites’ applicable violating safety and protection rules, namely the crane related technical safety regulations.

Eight managers, executives and engineers were fined and sentenced to three years in prison, while three engineers and supervisors were acquitted of the imputed charges. On the other hand, one defendant’s trial was suspended for his death.

The court recommended placing some authorities under pen liability for performance failure.

Following the rejection of the appeal, the Supreme Court’s ruling is final; and the executive form thereof was sealed as “Final and Binding”.

In September 2015, the crane collapse accident occurred in the Great Mosque of Mecca during Hajj season; and caused the death of more than 100 people and the injury of many others, Argaam earlier reported.
