Tasneef competes to strengthen its position through ME railway project

After having offered a wide range of its services from classification to quality certifications for the maritime sector, Tasneef expands its role to services for the land sector that were displayed during Middle East Rail Conference and Exhibition.

Middle East Rail conference and Exhibition 2015 was held to bring together major companies and organizations from all over the world to showcase their latest achievements, future prospects and give room for collaborations between nations. As per its continuous efforts to turn the region into a global trade route, the ME’s connective railway was the major highlight of the exhibition. Being the only society of its kind in the Arab world, Emirates Classification Society “Tasneef” participated in the exhibition in collaboration with various Italian companies by offering its consulting services in areas such as quality assurance certificated, training, as well as train and railway inspections. The cooperation between the two entities is believed to play a major role in the ME railway project.
Having previously focused on maritime, the land sector is considered to be a major addition to Tasneef’s long record of impressive projects and an important step towards achieving its goal as a leading force in the region’s booming economy.
Eng. Rashid Al Hebsi, CEO of Tasneef, has expressed his optimism regarding the ME railway, calling it a “historical chance” in terms of strengthening transport and trade in the region. “The GCC railway is a turning point in the history of the nations’ collaboration towards a strong collaborative economy. Our role at Tasneef is a continuous reflection of our country’s objective to lead the Arab world into a future full of endless opportunities in both land and maritime sectors. We are hoping to play a key role in terms of technical consultancy and training programs in the ME railway project. Our collaboration with Italian companies represents a big step towards moving forward to applying the world’s highest standards for both trains and railroads.”
Tasneef’s role in ME railway projects revolves around offering state-of-the-art services to guarantee quality, health and public safety. The railway project, which is believed to be one of the biggest collaborative projects between the ME nations, is expected to strengthen the trade between member states, as well as working towards future collaborations in terms of production and train in the region. As for its direct impact on the maritime sector, it is expected to raise production by saving time, expenses and set-backs for land and maritime shipping. It is also believed to decrease the number of hazards the traditional land shipping imposes.

Further explaining the project, Eng. Saoud Al Hamadi, Project Manager at Tasneef, emphasized “Al Ettihad train will make stops at all the major ports in the country, and will save the maritime sector a lot of expenses and consequences which are considered to be dangerous for the public, and demands more time and efforts. The train can carry thousands of containers, which is guaranteed to create opportunities for a cooperation between all the major sectors and companies. When it comes to companies specialized in transporting massive cargo, this project is going to almost eliminate the difficulties they face.”
Middle East Rail was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs. The event was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Bilhaif Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works, and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority of Land and Maritime.
