Top Teams from Abu Dhabi Make it to National Semi-Finals at du Football Champions

In the final day of matches in the Abu Dhabi leg of the nationwide du Football Champions (duFC), teams of boys and girls from across Abu Dhabi played their hearts out in the nation’s official UAE Schools & Streets Cup and only scouting platform in partnership with LaLiga for their final chance to make it to the national semi-finals.

 

Speaking about the impact of the tournament on youth footballers across the nation Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Vice President of Brand and Corporate Communications, du, said, “With du Football Champions we are able to provide every youth in the UAE with an opportunity to pursue their football aspirations and the level of participation and the enthusiasm with which the youth in Abu Dhabi have played the past weeks is a testament to the success of our platform.  We congratulate Abu Dhabi teams moving forward.”

 

UAE Schools Cup

The 8 teams facing off in the UAE Schools Cup U16 category were equally matched in skill and drive to win and showcased the highest standards of football play throughout the day as they battled it out for the win.  First round saw Al Najah School, Al Dhafra Private School, International Community School and British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) making it through and one step closer to the semi-finals.  Round 2 saw BSAK battling out against International Community School while Al Dhafra Private School met Al Najah School with all 4 teams playing with intensity, speed and precision.  The standard of football was extremely high and the teams played neck to neck and matched goal for goal.   Teams moving forward to the national semi-finals are Al Dhafra Private School and International Community Schoo.

 

In the boys U14 category teams moving forward are British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) and Emirates Private School Bany Yas with BSAK finishing the day in style with a 5-0 win against Al Suqour School Cycle 2 and Emirates Private School Bany Yas taking the win 4-2 against Ruwais Private School.

 

The U12 boys demonstrated superb skills and true potential to be developed in professional footballers.   Teams who breezed their way into the semi-finals are International Academic School with a record 9 goals scored and 0 goals conceded and British School Al Khubairat.

 

 

 

UAE Streets Cup

With 16 teams facing off in the knock outs in Abu Dhabi the competition was heated as the boys of the Streets Cup were focused on the win and their final chance to impress the LaLiga scouts.  Walking away victorious in the U16 category are 3yal Zayed and XI while in the U14 category Abu Dhabi Thistle Red and Future Stars will meet their counter parts from Northern Emirates, Al Ain and Dubai.

 

Girls Challenge

The support during the knock outs on the girls pitches was astounding as friends and families get the teams motivated and fighting for their one chance to make it to the nationals semi-finals.   Regional Sports breezed through with a clean sheet and an incredible 11 goals scored and AISA continue to look strong – both teams looking like potential contenders for the duFC finals.
