The Department of Planning and Development - Trakhees at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation implemented an extensive and wide-ranging inspection campaign to ensure the safety of products in shops at Dragon Mart in Dubai, which continued for 3 days with a completion rate of 100%. The campaign included several inspection rounds on shops selling cosmetics, perfumes and electronic cigarettes, which are witnessing a significant growth in demand during the recent period, in order to verify the quality of the products offered for sale from the perspective of customers, business and enterprises.
H.E. Eng. Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of the Department of Planning and Development - Trakhees, confirmed that this campaign, which took place under the supervision and implementation of the Environment, Health and Safety Department in the Trakhees Department, comes within the framework of a global interest towards improving the safety standards of consumer products, and ensuring the provision of accurate and transparent information to consumers before purchasing, and ensuring that they obtain correct information about the purchased goods.
The campaign also seeks to inform business owners about their obligations regarding consumer rights, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and adopting optimal practices in commerce and retail operations. This endeavor aims to elevate product safety and quality in local markets, thereby bolstering consumer rights and fostering a sustainable, trustworthy business climate in the region.
Eng. Abdulla Belhoul affirmed: “In our view, consumers are a vital cornerstone of the economy, and it is incumbent upon companies to uphold their responsibilities towards them. This is the objective we aim to accomplish through our extensive inspection campaigns.
