Truecaller Appoints Seasoned Exec Husain Misherghi As New VP

Truecaller today announces the appointment of Husain Misherghi as Vice President of Growth & Partnerships for Middle East and North Africa. Misherghi will lead the company’s operations in the region and will focus on growing the user base and establishing partnerships across the ecosystem as Truecaller seeks to consolidate its leadership position in a region that represents a key growth market for the brand.

Prior to Truecaller, Misherghi was the head of Rocket Internet Middle East where he co-founded Namshi.com, the Middle East's leading ecommerce destination for fashion and lifestyle, among other businesses. He was also the CEO of Foodonclick.com, the largest online food delivery portal in the UAE. He began his career at Google as a Financial Analyst in Mountain View, California.

“We are pleased to have Husain on board to enhance our expansion efforts in the MENA region where Truecaller and Truedialer have made significant inroads to become one of the most popular apps in the region,” said Nami Zarringhalam, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Truecaller. “Husain’s deep industry experience and regional insights will play a vital role in helping Truecaller grow in an even faster pace.”

“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lead Truecaller’s operations in a region that counts among the fastest growing markets for our brand,” said Husain. “I look forward to working with our team and our strategic partners to enhance Truecaller’s presence and build our brand across the region."

Truecaller has amassed more than 100 millions users globally, and the MENA region provides great opportunity to expand that reach even further. In countries such as Lebanon and Jordan, Truecaller has become such a popular app, that it has become a household name for a majority of the population. In Lebanon, the app is installed by 90% of the population; and two thirds of the population has the app installed in Jordan. In Egypt, Truecaller has been rising in popularity by becoming a top app in the app store, which has lead to one-fourth of the population installing the app.

Truecaller is available to download for free on Google Play, the Apple App Store, BlackBerry, Nokia, and Windows Phone. Additionally, the free dial pad replacement app, Truedialer is available on Android and Windows Phone.
