Villa Rotana Judged as the Winner for Dubai Green Tourism Awards 3rd Cycle 2015
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) announced Villa Rotana as the winner of Dubai Green Tourism Awards 3rd Cycle 2015. More than 80 hotels participated and Villa Rotana proudly receives the award in the Standard Hotel Apartment category which was presented to the General Manager, Mr. Kinan Al Ghraoui during the Arabian Travel Market 2015. The judging panel consisting of representatives from different sectors like DEWA, DTCM and Dubai Municipality, whereby they are graded on four main criteria: environmental strategies; performance and results; education/training & awareness; and awards & recognition. Mr. Kinan Al Ghraoui, General Manager of Villa Rotana said, “We are extremely humbled and honoured to receive this recognition from DTCM for our efforts and initiatives towards becoming an environment-friendly hotel. Our driving force is the passion within us and amongst our colleagues that makes a difference which helps us in delivering the best practices of Rotana Earth by contributing to the environment and the community.” Villa Rotana has numerous practices in place such as waste management system, monitoring of water and electric usage, and on-going community activities, in collaboration with NGO’s such as Rashid Centre for the Disabled, Dubai Autism Centre, Dubai foundation for Women and Children etc., which has paved way to have bagged awards like, Rotana Earth Award in 2014 and Hotelier Middle East CSR Champion 2014. Mr. Kinan Al Ghraoui also said that, “We are incredibly proud of the dedication of our colleagues who consistently believed in working for the community and environment and have committed themselves towards transforming the ideals of Rotana Earth which is our corporate sustainability platform into a reality. I would also like to thank each and every one who has supported Villa Rotana’s Green Movement.” The Dubai Green Tourism Award was initiated by DTCM in 2009 to improve and encourage conservation of resources and reduce the carbon footprint of the tourism industry, aimed at recognising the contributions of hotels and the hospitality and tourism industry towards better environmental practices. The event took place in Al Multaqua Ballroom in Dubai World Trade during the ATM 2015.
