Wyndham Hotel Group Continues to Expand Management Division in the Middle East and Africa
Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel company and one of three hospitality business units of Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN), today announced the continued expansion of its managed property portfolio with the signing of the 162-room Ramada® Hotel & Suites Amwaj Island in Bahrain.
The signing adds to the company’s existing pipeline of managed hotels across the Middle East, which includes three further openings in Bahrain, along with properties in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. In total, two in every three deals in Wyndham Hotel Group’s Middle Eastern pipeline are now planned to open under management contracts.
“Managing hotels gives us the opportunity to demonstrate the true essence of our powerhouse brands, engage with prestigious partners looking for holistic operating structures and to get closer to our guests and our customers,” commented Dan Ruff, Wyndham Hotel Group’s president and managing director, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Indian Ocean. “Signing yet another management agreement in the Middle East - this time for the impressive Ramada Hotel & Suites Amwaj Island - just weeks after opening our first managed hotel in Africa, demonstrates both our commitment to the growth of the division as well as the scale of this exciting opportunity.”
Upon opening in September this year, Ramada Hotel & Suites Amwaj Island is expected to offer 162 guest rooms ranging from spacious superior rooms to three-bedroom suites. Within walking distance from Amwaj Marina and the Amwaj Lagoon, the hotel is expected to include several food and beverage outlets including an all-day-dining restaurant and lobby café, as well as the city’s first Moroccan fine dining outlet, which will be situated on a rooftop terrace offering stunning views of the Arabian Sea.
Flexible meeting space at the hotel will accommodate up to 175 people theatre-style, while extensive leisure facilities will include a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a spa, a swimming pool and an indoor Jacuzzi with a sauna and steam rooms.
The hotel is owned by Mannai Holding S.P.C, one of Bahrain’s largest conglomerates and a prolific hotel developer. The group also owns the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotel under construction in the city.
"We are proud to partner with Wyndham Hotel Group to expand the world-renowned Ramada brand in Bahrain, as well as to introduce the country’s first Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotel,” said Mr. Salim Ahmed Mannai, chairman of Mannai Holding Group. “Both hotels will help service the demand for quality, branded hotel accommodation in the market upon opening later this year.” Guests staying at Ramada Hotel & Suites Amwaj Island who are members of Wyndham Rewards®, Ramada’s free-to-join guest loyalty programme, will be able to earn valuable points during their stay. Points may be redeemed for a wide variety of reward options including free hotel stays, air travel, gift cards for leading retailers and more.
