Yesser and World Bank Group Jointly Host Webinar on Post-Covid-19 Technology-Driven Business Transformation

The CEO of the e-Government Program (Yesser) Engineer Ali bin Nasser Al-Asiri stated that it endeavors to transfer the best global practices to Saudi Arabia to ensure business continuity in the Kingdom’s government agencies in the post-Covid-19 era. Engineer Al-Asiri’s comments came as he inaugurated the webinar titled “From Remote Work to Smart Work” and organized by the program in partnership with the World Bank Group (WBG) virtually on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, with the participation of a group of government decision-makers, experts, and academics from the Kingdom and around the world.

During the webinar, Engineer Al-Asiri indicated that there is a dire need to determine the global successful experiences related to work in light of the effects of the pandemic and its aftermath, as well as to explore the prospect of adopting them to support and empower the government sector considering its vital role in advancing national development. He added that Yesser is keen on benefiting from the latest technologies in order to achieve this objective, pointing out that technology offered a lifeline to countries to overcome all the challenges caused by the pandemic, as evidenced by more than 142 million technology-enabled service exchange processes between government agencies in the Kingdom.

The participants in the webinar discussed the most important lessons learned from the factors that enable technology for remote work during the pandemic, in addition to the digital capabilities and tools that have been secured for government officials to work remotely, as well as the institutional capabilities required to change from remote work to smart work, and opportunities to leapfrog into smart government through the future of intelligence.

The webinar forms part of Yesser’s objectives aimed at advancing government digital transformation in the Kingdom and addressing all obstacles that may hinder this process, such as the coronavirus pandemic. Further, the webinar is a culmination of the program’s partnership with the institutions of the international community, particularly the World Bank Group. The program actively seeks to create a group of global partnerships that contribute to highlighting the Kingdom's excellence in various fields.
