Dubai Culture’ Launches ‘Our Summer is filled with Culture & Arts’ 2017 Programme at the Dubai Public Library

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage – has announced the launch of its ‘Our Summer is filled with Culture & Arts’ 2017 Programme at the Dubai Public Library.  The activities will be held across five Dubai Public Library branches and will start on the 16th of July and will run till the 10th of August 2017.

 

Dubai Public Library branches are offering a range of activities for children, which have been designed to develop their skills and help them benefit during their free time away from school during the summer break.  The programme includes activities such as: self-development, chess, the magic of scientific interactions, art of removing chaos, cooking lessons, painting and many more. These activities aim to promote learning through a fun way, by engaging children and integrating them into tasks that aim at providing them with communication skills, positive thinking and collaborative work as well as developing their creativity and innovation skills.

 

The program is divided into two periods where Al Rashidiya library, Hatta library and Mankhool library will host the first programme from July 16th to 27thand the second period of activities will be held for two weeks from July 29th to August 10th at the Al Twar Library and Umm Suqeim Library. All activities will be held in the evening from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

 

Dr. Hissa bin Masoud, Director of Dubai Public Library at Dubai Culture, commented: “We are pleased to launch this year’s edition of the ‘Our Summer is filled with Culture & Arts’ across five different Dubai Public Library branches. In this year’s edition we launched a programme which aims to enhance children’s skills through fun activities that are also related to their studies, while they can benefit from their free time during summer by learning new skills.”

 

The Dubai Public Library network includes eight libraries for adults and another seven for children. Some branches feature multi-purpose halls, classrooms and exhibition spaces and all branches of the Dubai Public Library are connected via computer systems. This has established close links with other modern libraries, providing access to vast sources of information on a diversity of topics in both Arabic and English.
