Dubai Culture Strategic Partner For Dubai Design Week 2020

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Culture affirmed its continuous reinforcing of creativity and innovators in the emirate to enhance Dubai’s position as a global centre for art and culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent by supporting the sixth edition of Dubai Design Week which is taking place from 9 to 14 November.

Dubai Culture is one of the strategic partners for the annual Dubai Design Week. The Authority is also a main supporter of Downtown Design 2020, one of the activities of the week that will be presented in a hybrid format this year, allowing the design community to meet and interact across physical and digital platforms.

Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, emphasised the importance of Dubai Design Week as a pioneering event on the emirate’s agenda of innovative, creative events, underpinning its pivotal role in expanding design and innovation horizons locally, regionally and globally as well as the Authority’s constant keenness to support initiatives and talents in this event.

Badri said: “At Dubai Culture, we recognise the positive impact of cooperation, and we welcome local and international partnerships that would provide opportunities to empower creative industries and talents. Through our support of Dubai Design Week and Downtown Design 2020, which represents a platform for artworks from the most prominent designers in the region and highlights progressive design ideas and visions in the region, we are keen to allocate resources to also support talents, innovators and entrepreneur to ensure their participation in Dubai Design Week Marketplace, the new retail initiative comprising a key component of the largest creative festival in the Middle East. Our support of such events aligns with our duties towards the cultural and creative sectors as well as with the sectoral pillar of our updated strategic roadmap.”

Hala Badri also indicated that this year’s edition of Dubai Design Week would also witness the launch of the first edition of the MENA Grad Show, highlighting the Authority’s keenness to support the aspirations of graduates in the region through this exhibition. Dubai Design Week will provide graduates with a platform to showcase their innovative visions and will encourage global audiences to interact with them to transform help transform the ideas into solutions for a number of the most prominent social and environmental problems facing the world today.

During Dubai Design Week, celebrating the heritage and historical treasures that Dubai embraces, and with the aim of providing an opportunity for locals, residents and visitors to enhance their knowledge about these rich landmarks, Dubai Culture is also organising a tour at Al Shindagha Museum on Wednesday, 11 November from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and another tour at Etihad Museum on Thursday, 12 November 8:30 to 11 a.m. Those interested can register for these tours via the Dubai Design Week website.
