The Historic Jeddah Season in association with Saudi Art and Culture has many key activities planned for the season, ranging from art exhibitions to street performances and art installations. The SAC leads one such intriguing activity called Crosswalks, an art intervention by celebrated artist Carlos Cruz Diez which allows art works to be integrated into urban spaces. Thus, encouraging people to break away from social conventions and absorb new visual stimuli, whilst experiencing the city in a unique and never-seen-before manner. For this activity, paths within Al Balad district have been recreated using various art elements, allowing members of the public to engage with their environment. The artworks at Crosswalk will be partially complete, with the public being invited to join the artist in completing the rest of the artwork. An intriguing and interesting fact about these artworks is that the colors will constantly change depending on the time of the day or where the passerby stands. This installation reiterates the fact that street art is constantly changing and evolving and there is always an element of surprise. Visitors can be part of this creative artwork at the Yard taking place beside Al Jaffali House, today from 6:00pm to 11:00 p.m. For those who can’t join, you can still view the artworks till July 18, 2019.
