Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has launched ‘Hatta Creativity & Arts Club’ to support Dubai Culture’s vision to establish Dubai as a global, creative, and sustainable city for culture, heritage, arts and literature. The club is based in the Dubai Public Library - Hatta and represents the first initiative from the Authority’s Hatta Development Committee.
The club will kick off activities on Wednesday 18th April at 11am with ‘The Clowns’, an onstage performance for children that was written by Mari Al-Hailian and directed by Bani Yass Theatre. Other activities include a photo exhibition titled ‘From Al Fahidi Neighbourhood to Hatta’ by 27 Emirati photographers, an art exhibition titled ‘Faces from the United Arab Emirates’ by the artist Amer Al Ali, as well as a studio inside the club where visitors will be provided with photos as souvenirs.
Fatima Al Jallaf, Deputy Head of the Hatta Development Plan Committee and Manager of Theatre Section at Dubai Culture, said: “The launch of the ‘Hatta Arts & Creativity Club’ is aligned with our continuous efforts to support the Hatta Development Plan launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The club will play an important role in finding new talents and innovators in Hatta, establishing a foundation for the arts in various ways and helping people to engage more with art and literature. Students are highly encouraged to take part as the club also aims to raise standards among Hatta residents and involve them in making Dubai a city of happiness that supports its citizens’ talents and innovations.”
Dubai Culture launches an array of activities and initiatives aimed at positioning Hatta and other neighbouring areas on the culture and arts map, and further engaging the community in artistic projects and specifically theatrical activities.
Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
