Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) Ali Ghafis launched Sunday the online National Competition for skills that targets Saudi youth who have skills and proficiency in various fields.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the competition aims to highlight the importance of acquiring technical skill and encourage young talented people to enter the contest and create opportunities for themselves.
“The TVTC also provides job opportunities for the participants through these initiatives where companies, government and private sectors will identify their skills,” he noted. According to him, the TVTC competition will focus on industrial and service occupations based on the highest international standards where contestants will compete in the fields of painting, computer, Web page design, mobile robots, and welding. Other categories include software solutions for business, electronics and network management systems, electrical wiring and automotive technology, in addition to refrigeration and air conditioning.
Outlining the process, he said participants will compete over a period of two days to complete their projects based on an international skills criterion while experts will assess them in accordance with international standards. Winners stand to receive cash prizes and medals. Top-plaed candidates will receive a gold medal and a cash prize of SR50,000; second-placed winners will receive a silver medal and SR30,000 while contestants in the third place will get a bronze medal and SR20,000. There will also be an additional SR5,000 for those who obtained the full 500 points.
The governor said that the three winners of each skill will be given intensive training by the TVTC which will choose the best candidate to represent Saudi Arabia in the international skills competition.
